Reflection Batting Practice
Three innings, three clients. Swing for the home run.
Instructions
1
Each inning, a new client steps up to pitch. Their change focus is on the pitcher card.
2
Reflect what they say and swing before the speed bonus runs out.
3
The client reacts to your swing, and their reply is your next pitch. Four swings per inning, three innings, then your box score.

Swing for the fences!

Every pitch has some change talk and some sustain talk mixed in. Your goal is a home run: a reflection that draws out the client's own reasons for change.

  • Single Simple reflection. You repeat or rephrase what the client said.
  • Double Complex reflection. You add meaning or feeling, like a double-sided reflection.
  • Home run Complex reflection that evokes change. You focus on the client's reasons, hopes, or concerns that point toward change.
  • Strikeout A question, advice, or praise.
Watch the pitch clock in the scene — swing while it lasts for extra points, but a rushed single is still a single. Take a breath and go for the home run.
